Be Nicer Movement
Being nicer sparks a ripple,
moment by moment.
The Be Nicer Movement turns small acts of niceness into meaningful change. Through public donations, business partnerships and community support, we fund practical gestures that make a real difference, one good turn at a time.
Our mission
"A Be Nicer gesture can make someone's day. Lift their chin a little higher. Make them smile. Inject a little positivity into the world."
We start small, and with support we scale. These are the acts your niceness makes possible:
- A cup of coffee for a stranger, carrying a Be Nicer sticker
- Paying for someone's essential shopping
- Providing a piece of school uniform
- Funding a child's experience
The Be Nicer Scale, from the inside out
Be Nicer to Yourself
It starts within. Daily self-care, gratitude, rest, confidence and wellbeing. You cannot pour from an empty cup.
Be Nicer to Individuals
Small acts of niceness for family, friends, colleagues and complete strangers. A moment that lifts someone's day.
Be Nicer to Communities & Projects
Volunteer, mentor, donate, collaborate and support the community initiatives and causes that make a lasting difference.
Simple steps to take part
Choose your moment
Yourself, someone else or a community project. Every level counts and every one is part of the same movement.
Do one nice thing
It can be tiny. A coffee for a stranger, a nice word, a helping hand. Small gestures create real ripples.
Pass it on
Share it, inspire someone else, or support a campaign. One act of niceness sparks the next.
Our philosophy
Every act, whether it is showing yourself compassion, helping one person or supporting an entire project, is part of the same movement. The aim is a ripple effect that grows from the inside out.
The Science of Niceness
Niceness is more powerful than you think.
Every smile, encouraging word, thoughtful gesture or helping hand has the potential to change someone's day. Increasingly, research suggests it may also change your own.
Scientists have spent decades studying altruism, generosity and prosocial behaviour. A growing body of evidence suggests that regularly helping others can improve wellbeing, strengthen social connection and is associated with better long-term health outcomes.
What happens when we act with niceness?
When we voluntarily help another person, the brain activates reward pathways associated with positive emotion and social connection. Researchers have linked helping behaviour with activity in the brain's reward system and with naturally occurring chemicals involved in wellbeing, including dopamine, endorphins and oxytocin. Positive social interactions are also associated with lower physiological stress responses in many studies.
What does the evidence show?
- Helping others is associated with greater happiness and life satisfaction.
- Regular volunteering is linked with lower rates of depression and greater sense of purpose.
- Helping others can reduce loneliness by strengthening meaningful social connections.
- Many studies associate compassionate behaviour with lower stress responses.
- Large systematic reviews have found that regular volunteers have a lower risk of premature mortality than non-volunteers, although this does not prove volunteering alone causes longer life.

Current campaign
Our first Be Nicer gestures
We're just getting started. Every donation funds real, practical acts of niceness for people in and around our community, allocated by our Ambassadors and backed by receipts. Follow the campaign to watch the ripple grow.
All donations are handled securely by GoFundMe. We never collect payments on this site.

First stories being written up
Every completed act will appear here with its outcome report: what it was, who it reached and what changed. We would rather show you real ones than fill this space with stock photography.
Transparency you can trust
Who organises the fundraising?
Kinetic Bridges, through The Be Nicer Movement. We set up and manage each campaign directly.
What is the money used for?
Be Nicer gestures: practical, real-world acts of niceness such as those listed above. Nothing else.
How are recipients chosen?
Through selected Be Nicer Ambassadors, trusted people and retailers who allocate acts at their discretion and provide receipts, so every gesture is accounted for.
Are any costs deducted?
We keep the movement lean. Donations go toward Be Nicer gestures; unavoidable payment-provider fees are the only deduction, and we are always upfront about them.
What happens to unused funds?
Any funds not needed for a specific act are held and rolled into the next Be Nicer gesture. Nothing is wasted.
How are outcomes reported?
Each campaign closes with an outcome report so you can see exactly what your niceness made possible.
